Tema Harbor/Port: Not controlled by Ghana Government instead by this French Billionaire.

Until I finally did my research I had this conception that the Tema harbor/port was actually under the full control of the government of Ghana, no in actuality, it is controlled by a wealthy french Billionaire and other associates, that is something I never ever thought of.

French Billionaire, Vincent Bolloré, the CEO of Investment group. He is ranked 499th-richest person in the world, according to Bloomberg, with an estimated fortune of US$5.27 billion. Bollore controls 16 sea ports in West Africa including Ghana's biggest port, Tema Port.

Vincent Bolloré (born 1 April 1952) is a French billionaire businessman. He is the chairman and CEO of the investment group Bolloré.

Bolloré runs 18 ports in West Africa. The most recent to open is Tema, a high-tech facility some 25km from the capital Accra, which serves the hinterland of Burkina Faso and Mali. It is operated in a 70% joint-owned venture between the Government of Ghana and Meridian Port Services (MPS) (itself a joint venture between Bolloré Transport and Logistics and APM Terminals).

Bolloré's personal investment career began when he took over at his family-controlled conglomerate Bolloré, which deals in maritime freight and African trade, and paper manufacturing (cigarette and bible paper). Bolloré employs 33,000 people worldwide.

The Bolloré Group also has important positions in the economies of several former French colonies in Africa (in particular Ivory Coast, Gabon, Cameroon, and Congo).
