Find Out How The Ghanaian Cedi Has Been Described

Ever since the Government of Ghana led by President Akuffo Addo announced it's intention to seek assistance from the International Monetary Fund, many people have shared their views and one of such people is Steve Hanke.

He describes himself as an Economist at Johns Hopkins University, a Senior Fellow and Director for Troubled Currencies Project at Caton Institute among others.

According to him , Ghana is in the 16th position in this week's Hanke's Currency Watch List.

Steve Hanke further noted that by his own calculations ,the Ghanaian Cedi has depreciated by 29.5% against the dollar of the United States of America since January 2020.

Based on this, he describes the Ghanaian Cedi as a central bank junk currency.
