Will You Pay E-levy If The Rate Is Reduced To 1%? ; Ghanaians Massively React To This Question

TV3 Ghana, one of Ghana's most reputable media houses has shared a story on social media. In such post, the media house asked Ghanaians whether they will pay the E-levy if the rate is reduced to 1% or even reduced further to 0.5%.

A lot of Ghanaians have reacted to this question and below are some reactions.

From the reactions above, some Ghanaians revealed that the payment of the E-levy is not the problem but how the money will be used is the challenge. They seem to have lost trust in the government. Others revealed that they will never pay the E-levy even if it is reduced to 0.5%.

The E-levy became a trending topic in the country for almost three months when it was passed in parliament. The original rate as suggested by the ministry of Finance was 1.75%. However, it was later reduced to it's current rate of 1.5%.

Most Ghanaians, especially members of the opposition party believe that the rate is quite expensive and it will render a lot of people poor. For this reason, they have decided to avoid any form of mobile money banking.
