In a recent post by Professor John Gatsi on his Facebook page, he mentioned that the country is drifting away from Agriculture even though the economy depends largely on our farm produce .

He encouraged Ghanaians to plant cassava instead of importing .Many Ghanaians have expressed satisfaction in his post as he usually adds his voice to socioeconomic discussions. Many were delighted to see pictures of him planting cassava : this is what we call seeing is believing.

According to the Professor , Ghana has spent $23.62billion on agricultural products import .. He emphasized that, on average , between 2008 and 2020, Ghana imported agricultural products valued at $1.97 billion. In 2018, agricultural produce imports accounted for 21.3% of total imports and urged the country not to import basic agricultural produce. Prof Gatsi's message on Agriculture has drawn several comments from Ghanaians.

One Abdul wrote : Agriculture is our root as Ghanaians. It is time the elite recognized that. Policy makers has made Agric unattractive to the already existing farmers. As a result, they are all reducing their output which has led to the importation of cassava. Kudos Prof! .

Chris Kwashie also wrote: Prof you do all. You challenge my agriculture skills. More grace. Francis Gamli also remarked , Prof you deserve an applause.

Abofra Tetteh also remarked , "beautiful presentation, Prof. John Gatsi "

Surprisingly , one Samuel Dzakpasu made this statement ," A very humble man. We believe you will deliver" We are uncertain whether Samuel wants Professor Gatsi to contest for any political position in the future but we will monitor to bring you updates. Is Prof Gatsi affiliated to any political party , NDC or NPP ? It was surprising when former Vice Chancellor Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang became a running mate for the NDC ;many did not expect the calm academic to rise to that rank in the politics.

Now the question is , would Prof Gatsi be a running mate , MP or a Minister of Finance or Agriculture .
