Communications Director for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Sammy Gyamfi has described Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia “as an unmitigated disaster as Chairman of the Economic Management Team”.
According to him, Dr. Bawumia has to sit up and do something about the constantly depreciating Ghana Cedi.
Today you need GHC 9.50p to purchase a dollar. “He is sitting down hopelessly without executing any feasible solution to arrest the dollar and now, the Cedi has become the second worst performing currency to the US dollar and the worst currency in Africa”, he stated.
He reiterated that the Vice President as the Chairman of the Economic Management Team has deviated from his core mandate of managing the economy and always talking and warranting about digitization in his public lectures.
He emphasized that the Vice President has now realized that managing the economy and the Cedi-to-Dollar exchange rate is not about cheap talk and empty slogans but has to do with real measures and solutions which he has been handicapped on the subject.
