V8, GHC10,000 And Excesses For #FixTheCountry Demonstration? Our Youth Aren't Gullible

Consider this to be a post-mortem of Tuesday demonstration by #FixTheCountry campaigners in Takoradi. The preparation towards it was marked with some interesting observation that most Ghanaians might have overlooked.

Some critical issued have been raised and this must be an advise for the youth and those who have joined the bandwagon #FixTheCountry campaign. Wondered why some people who stood so strongly for them are rather silent on this movement?

Captain Smart who became the loudest hardly speak about this movement. Even on the 21 September 2021, his absence wouldn't have been an issue but for him to be silent about the demonstration ongoing in Takoradi, and rather dramatizing his Nkrumahist character proves things are rather falling apart.

In fact many are falling out, and the signs were obvious that the demonstration in Takoradi was going to flop. For conveners who had trumpeted that the Ghanaian youth is broke and jobless, the conveners should have been mindful of the use of a V8 as an information van.

Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah and his team presented themselves as the very politician they were fighting and blaming for the woes of the Ghanaian people. He mounted the vehicle with his megaphone and charged at residents to participate in the demonstration.

Freebies including T-shirts were shared across the streets of Sekondi-Takoradi. Well that is just one issue. Realizing that their numbers need to complemented, their convener at Obuasi was compelled to bus people at a cost of GHC10,000.00.

This excludes how much each participant was to given as refreshment for turning up. Perhaps not much has been interrogated about how much they have expended so far for these demonstrations and where they are getting their funding from.

It is argued that every group must be investigated to understand where and who is funding them. In fact this is a matter of auditing and the group must come clear on this. The fears are that, soon some terror groups might arise to sponsor covert activities in Ghana under a supposed 'freedom fighters movement' sort off, and cause mayhem in Ghana.

The state investigative bodies must be up and doing to interrogate these issues even before they grant them the permission to embark on a protest. Take this to be a free security advise.

Above all, our youth must be awakened from the slumber of political exploitation. If these conveners could spend such luxury and money for demonstrations, then each follower must wise up.
