Ghana Education Service to conduct Headcount of Free SHS students next week

Teaching staff of Ghana Education Service have taken part in numerous headcounts exercises conducted by their employer in recent years. Those exercises were aimed at fishing out ghost names.

Reports making waves suggest that Ghana Education Service intends to embark on a head count exercise in all Senior High Schools across the country. The hint of this all-important event was contained in circular released by the Ashanti Regional Education Directorate, today Tuesday, 13th April, 2021.

The circular was signed by Miss Mary Owusu Afiriyie, the Ashanti Regional Education Director as her outfit launches "OPERATION FILL ALL SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN ASHANTI REGION".

The tail end of the circular stipulates that Heads of Senior High Schools with vacancies should enroll over 10,000 qualified but unrolled students as the supervisory body looks to undertake a head count next week.

The exercise is aimed at giving Ghana Education Service a first hand information about whiat schools are facing. The actual number of students in every school will be known.

The reason for the headcount was not given. However, Ghana Education Service, Ministry of Education and the Free Senior High Secretariat would find it easy to make budgetary decisions as the actual population of each Senior High School would be known.
