Sekondi College Students must Learn from the good Example of Dr Frimpong Boateng Owing to the Infamous Act of Insult on the President by the Final year Student
The three Indisciplined final year Students of Sekondi College have brought dishonor to Honorable Dr Frimpong Boateng, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation. Instead of learning from his good example, as a past student.
Dr Kwabena Frimpong- Boateng, the past chief executive officer of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana, is currently serving the nation as the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation under the Governance of Nana Addo- Dankwa.
The Honorable Minister, who has received several dignitary and honorary awards both from Ghana and other international bodies, is a proud old student of Sekondi College.
He is a very disciplined and responsible citizen of Ghana, who has contributed immensely to the development of Ghana, especially in the area of health.
Professor Dr Frimpong Boateng, though started from a humble background, he was studious and disciplined student, right from his secondary school days at Sekondi College where he studied Physics and Mathematics.
Despite the financial challenges of his parents, he was able to study hard, which helped him in gaining scholarship to study in Germany after graduating from the University of Ghana medical school.
When he graduated in 1975 from the University of Ghana Medical school, with MB
( Bachelor of Medicine) and ChB (Bachelor of Surgeon) degrees, Dr Kwabena Frimpong Boateng proceeded to do his postgraduate studies in Surgery at the Hannover Medical University in Germany.
Dr Kwabena Frimpong Boateng was also ajudged the best candidate in the final examination, which won him the Easmon prize award for being the best student in Surgery at the time.
All of these scholarship awards and achievements, were as a result of his hard work, dedication to study, coupled with his disciplined personality.
The Honorable Minister, has been an excellent inspiration to the students of Sekondi College as an old student of the school.
Dr Frimpong Boateng, has also over the years, contributed his quota to the development and growth of the school in cash and other resources.
As it is the vision of every educational institution, it has being the vision of Sekondi College to continue to churn out, disciplined and responsible students who will be responsible citizens whilst contributing their quota to the development of Ghana.
Dr Kwabena Frimpong Boateng is one of the old students, the school pride itself with.
But, the recent outburst of a final year student of Sekondi College, Nicholas Cobbinah, aided by his two other colleagues, namely, Kardimell Suapim and John Kwofie, as he insulted the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo - Addo for their inability to write to their satisfaction, the 2020 WASCE Integrited Science exams is an unfortunate and regrettable action.
Therefore, as an old student of the school, I apologize to the President, on behalf of all the other past students of Sekondi College and again challenge the continuing students of the school to desist from indisciplined act that tanishes the image of the school, learn from the good example of Dr Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation who is an old student of Sekondi College.
