It's another season of one of the longest educational programme in Ghana, the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ). The competition seeks to test the knowledge (both theoretical and practical) of students in the field of Science and Maths.
With the regional qualifiers taking place in May to June this year, several schools from the various regions and zones were able to book a place in this year's Preliminary Stage of the competition (Prelims). Twenty-one (21) schools in the Ashanti Region were able to secure spots in the Prelims this year. The qualified schools have thus being grouped into three (Pot A, Pot B and Pot C) in terms of the points they obtained during the regional qualifiers.

Balloting for the Prelims contests would come off on the 19th of October this year. A school from each of the Pots would face off in the Preliminary contests and the winner in each of the contest would progress to the One-eighth (1/8th) stage of the competition. The Prelims contests in the Ashanti Region is scheduled to come off on the 4th and 5th of November this year.
