Candidate Who Eased Herself During 2021 BECE Asked To Sue WAEC

The Executive Director of EduWatch following reports that a candidate who sat for the just-ended BECE eased herself in exams hall after an invigilator denied her the chance to attend to nature’s call has advised her parents to sue WAEC.

In a Post dated Sunday 21st November 2021 on his Official Facebook page, he took a dig at WAEC and Ghana Education Service before offering advice to the said victims parents to sue WAEC. He asked;

"When did using the toilet become a malpractice? ".

" Has WAEC issued an apology? Has WAEC interdicted that invigilator?"

" What has Ghana Education Service said?".

The final year Junior High School student who sat for the national examination at the Mankessim Senior High School examination centre in the Central region was asked to finish her paper before being allowed out of the exams hall.

According to a local media report, the female candidate before the commencement of the examination was unwell. The report also said the final year student was on medication and some of her teachers were aware of her condition.

The West African Exams Council invigilator at the Mankessim Senior High School examination centre despite pleas by some teachers refused to permit the student to attend to nature’s call, a situation which made her ease herself.

The report said the student of Beifikrom Basic School whose name for some reason has been withheld was forced to write the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) with faeces on herself until s.ome angry teachers intervened.

But, Education Economist, Mr Kofi Asare, in a post sighted on his office Facebook page is condemning the behaviour of the said invigilator said he must be sued, asking that “when did using the toilet become examination malpractice?”

“And what will the invigilator even suffer, apart from the GH 15-20 invigilation fee which is paid after 10 months? Under the current WAEC Act, nothing more can happen to the invigilator. The parents of the girl must sue,” he added.

EduWatch Director further said, “you can’t sleep during WASSCE and suddenly regain consciousness at 2021 BECE for School by attacking an ant with a sledge hammer ostensibly to atone for your self-induced WASSCE comatose.”
