The University of Education Winneba has pleaded with the Sandwich students to exercise patients as the school works around the clock to issue them their certificates. The school graduated its 2019 batch of distance and sandwich students, together with others who were due, in the 25th congregation ceremony, 2nd session in late May this year. However, news reaching us indicates that the sandwich students who were supposed to be part of this graduation process were exempted even though they had satisfied all requirements. Because of this, the affected students have not received their certificates. As to what caused this blunder is not yet known.
This afternoon Wednesday 30th June 2021, Kumasi based "Sunsum FM" had an interview with the registrar of the Kumasi Campus, during the afternoon news, where he clarified that the delay in giving out the certificates is due to the transition and separation of the Kumasi and Mampong campuses from the main and Ejumako campuses to become autonomous University, Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training And Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED). He pleaded with the students to kindly exercise patience with the school because they are in talks with UEW and that they will work around the clock with UEW to release their certificates soon. But he did not give any timelines as to when they can expect their certificates. However, a close source indicates that the sandwich students are very agitated and may resort to demonstrate if the certificates are not released soon enough.
What baffles us is that, if this is the case, how could a section of the students of the same batch be given their certificates while others' fate hang in the balance, meanwhile they were affected by the same conditions? Well, patience is a virtue, we also wait to see what comes out of it, and we will bring our readers all updates.
