Planning and preparation.

To give a quality presentation, you need to plan, without planning you are likely to loose control in the middle of the presentation. In planning a presentation, you should consider the following:

Why and what (type of presentation) What is the issue? Today's talk is on keeping attention of the audience.

Audience, Who and Where? Know your audience (first and most important rule) different audiences need different types of talks for instance a presentation to business partners will take a different dimension, presentation to tertiary students, techniques to adapt in the presentation will be different from techniques in presenting to a Junior High School or Senior High School Students.

What do you want to communicate effectively and What do you want to achieve.

To deliver a good presentation, you should have your topic before time, set your goals for the presentation. Your presentation should inform and educate your audience.

Do research on your topic and get full control of it, you should be able to entertain your audience but it shouldn't be too much. Try and hold their attention.
