I Attended A Good School So I Used Pasco – Former MP Tells ‘Rural Schooled’ NDC MP

It was a scintillating discussion on TV3’s ‘New Day’ show today, Monday, July 19, 2021 when Dr. Clement Apaak, MP for Builsa South in the Upper East Region and former MP for Okaikoi North Fuseini Issah joined Berla Mundi to discuss pertinent issues affecting the country. Fuseini Issah lost his bid to be retained as MP in the 2020 elections.

One of the foremost issues discussed relates to the brouhaha over past questions bought for Senior High School students. The Minority in Parliament have argued that too much was spent on the past questions especially because government is spending so much on Free SHS. Dr. Apaak was one of the first people to raise this issue on the floor of Parliament when he questions the amount invested in the question papers.

Fuseini Issah explained that past questions were good and they assist students to pass their examinations. He wondered why Dr. Apaak is concerned about the amount involved because the Deputy Education Minister had come back to insist that there was a typo error in the amount stated as used for the acquisition of the papers. He added that like the A listed school he attended past questions come in handy.

“We all went through school and Apaak will admit that A Level and O Level, Pasco was something we didn’t joke with and you needed a Pasco to sit down with” Fuseini Issah said. He was interrupted when Apaak insisted he never used it. “We the rural boys never saw Pasco. I passed without it”. Fuseini Issah insisted that the fact that Dr. Apaak didn’t use it doesn’t mean others should be denied.

“Some of us were probably fortunate to have attended A-listed schools like PRESEC so we had Pasco”. This comment got the panelists laughing with Berla jokingly asking if Fuseini Issah necessarily had to say he attended a good school.

Clement Apaak explained that his problem was not about the use of past questions but rather the amount involved. The debate over the monies involved still continues with more questions being raised about why Kingdom Books is the only authorized dealers to supply the past questions.
