The National President of the Ghana National Association (GNAT) of Teachers, Madam Philipa Larsen has stated emphatically that, they will not sit and watch their members threatened. She made the call while speaking on PM express in reactions to the recent vandalism action perpetrated by some senior high school students writing the year’s final exams.
The GNAT president called on authorities of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and security officers to step in and ensure the arrest of all such student who were involved in such unacceptable act. She condemned the action of the students who were involved in some riotous activities because according to them the final exams questions WAEC set for them was difficult and that, none of the past questions the government gave to them came in the exams. Madam Philipa stated that, the mere fact that government supplied past questions to the students did not mean government was going to answer the questions for them.
Several other people including the Director General of GES, the Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Adutwum, some journalists, etc. have all condemned the action of such students and called on relevant institutions to act appropriately.
