Umar Farouk Aliu Mahama, MP for Yendi, has earned an honorary distinction that places him among the 'Top 30 Achievers' of Coventry University in the United Kingdom, Alumni. At a joint Special Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU)/Coventry University Alumni Dinner and Recognition Night in Accra, Farouk Aliu Mahama received a Citation that reads: "In recognition and appreciation for your outstanding accomplishment in your chosen endeavor, we recognize you as one of the Top 30 Achievers after a decade of partnership between Coventry University and GCTU in education capacity building.
"Your remarkable abilities, passion, and professionalism, therefore, giving glory and prestige to your fellow graduates and alma school". "On behalf of myself, my team and constituents, and my family," Mr. Mahama stated in accepting the award. I am very humbled by the distinction, and I accept the task it imposes on me to continue to seek the best in humanity and to conduct exceptional leadership based only on growth, compassion, and putting people first." He appreciated the significance of the award and thanked the Special Guest, Professor John Latha, Vice Chancellor of Coventry University.
"I would like to congratulate the Vice Chancellors of Coventry University and GCTU for conceptualizing this idea to award the top 30 achievers after a decade of collaboration between the two institutions". "We, the Alumni, accept the honors and pledge our unwavering support for the growth of this excellent school as Alumni," he stated. "I am not surprised that GCTU has been acknowledged as Africa's Premier Institution for Capacity Building in Procurement and Supply Chain 2022". Mr. Mahama stated that he and his constituents were tenacious and dedicated to constructing a confident Yendi that is united and at peace with us.
This, he said, supported his particular initiatives to assist farmers in the constituency, empower youngsters and women, care for their health, and assist poor schoolchildren. Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ebo Hinson, Africa's Celebrated Researcher, and Dr. David King Boison, whom he described as an exceptional instructor who taught them to either drink deep or taste not, he praised them once more. Eng. Mark Affum Amoamah, President of Alumni, also commended the two universities for the honor. Mr. Mahama is the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Yendi Constituency in Ghana's Northern Region and the Chairman of the Board of the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GIISDEC).
He is a results-oriented, goal-oriented, and disciplined manager. He has deep knowledge of procurement standards, principles, practices, and procedures, as well as broad technical experience in procurement and supply chain management. Mr. Mahama has extensive experience in Distribution, Warehousing, Logistics Management, Information Systems, Procurement Management, and Risk and Project Management.
