Ghanaians Bemoan Fact That KETASCO Female Contestant Is Travelling Outside Without NSMQ Team

Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO) has received several accolades for getting to the 2021 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) final and also for being the first school from Volta Region to achieve this feat. Bright Senyo Gadzo, Francisca Lamini, and James Lutterodt were the contestants for Keta Senior High School in the 2021 edition. It seems that the KETASCO’s other contestants, Bright Senyo Gadzo and James Lutterodt have been pushed into the dark while the Francisca Lamini is the one in the spotlight.

Recently, the organizers of the quiz revealed that the KETASCO’s Francisca Lamini would be travelling to Dubai with the Winners of the 2021 competition; the team of Prempeh College. This information has not been received well by some section of Ghanaians and have thus expressed their opinions on the decision to send only the female contestant along with the winning team.

Check below for the reactions from Ghanaians in relation to the fact that Francisca Lamini is travelling to Dubai without the other two contestants of KETASCO:

Many believe that the decision to send only Francisca Lamini (Most Outstanding Female Contestant ) is discriminatory against the other contestants who are males. These people added that the school [KETASCO] reached the finals of the competition as a result of a team effort and as such the whole team of KETASCO should rather be taken to Dubai instead of only the female contestant.

Others explained that she [Francisca Lamini] deserves everything [the support] she is receiving adding that she is joining contestants of 2021 Winners, Prempeh College as the Most Outstanding Female Contestant in the Competition this year. KETASCO’s Francisca Lamini is the first female contestant to help her school reach the finals of the competition in 8 years.

Should the whole KETASCO team join the Winners to Dubai as many have suggested? What do you make of the gender equality that is being preached almost everywhere now? Let us know your thoughts by leaving all your comments below.
