The debate on Free SHS was resurrected in the studios of Metro TV during the Good Morning Ghana show. Edudzi Tamakloe and Dr. Okoe Boye joined Randy Abbey on the show today. Initially, they were talking about the cancellation of the Physics and Business Management papers due to the mass leakage prior to the main examination.
Out of the blue, the host of the show, Randy Abbey asked a question that has been asked countless times.
"Why must the government be so interested in paying my kid's fees?. When people are able to pay their kid's fees for 9 years and you still force to pay the school fees for them. This is a free cheap wholesale. If you want to provide free education for the 100 000 poor children, find them. This government has employed a lazy approach. It takes time and effort to identify these poor students and you are not prepared to go through that."
Randy believed that the government is very lazy since they prefer to waste state resources in paying the fees of rich students rather than identifying the poor students and paying it for them.
"The finance minister shares this view with me. It is a publicly expressed view of his and For the first time I agree with him", Randy Abbey explained
