The Member of Parliament for Wenchi Constituency, Honorable Alhaji Seidu Haruna has organized a mock examination for a total of 2,039 candidates in the Wenchi constituency through the Ghana Education Service (GES) as part of his social intervention to improve on the falling standard of education in the area.
The program which is first of its kind in the constituency aimed to prepare the minds of the BECE candidates ahead of this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination which seems to commerce from 15th to 19th November, 2021.
According to the MP, though he has not received his share of the GETFUND, but looking at the poor standard of education in the constituency from 2017 to 2020 inspired him to source funds from somewhere to sponsor the mock examination to enable prepares the minds of the candidates.
The MP reiterated that the exercise cost him over twenty two thousand Ghana cedis (Ghc 22,000.00).
Alhaji Seidu Haruna further explained that the mock exams is also part of fulfilling his campaign promises to improve the standard of education in the Wenchi Municipality prior to the 2020 Parliamentary and Presidential elections.
A total of 2,039 BECE candidates from 85 Junior High Schools of both public and private within the Municipality are benefiting from the program which people praised him for.
Out of 955 of the candidates are made up of boys while 1,084 are girls from 71 public and 14 private schools in the Wenchi Municipality are participating.
He urges the candidates to take the mock exams seriously inorder to excel in the BECE.
