The NPP Government has been very keen on getting the Ghana Education system to another level and it's what they are trying to do now. When they first assumed office in the year 2017, the Free SHS which was tagged as impossible began. First batch of this great initiative completed in September 2020 and surprisingly, most of the candidates were able to secure grades that can see them into any Tertiary institution of their choice. Those who were financially unstable have been helped by the government to go to the tertiary. Some are studying here in the country while some are outside the country.
One of the things the Government initiated to push the Ghana Education system was to give each teacher in the country a laptop. The Government promised to give every teacher in Ghana a laptop in order to ease the stress they go through when teaching and also, boast the teaching of ICT in schools. Ghanaian teachers have waited in vain for this promise to be fulfilled. Some of us thought it will not be possible for the government to give each teacher a laptop.
What some of us thought was impossible has become possible. His Excellency Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia the vice president has today handed over 350,000 laptops to GES as part of the one teacher one laptop initiative. The handing over of the laptops was unexpected but has been done.
Social media users have also reacted to the news. As you will expect, words of blessings have been sent to the NPP government for fulfilling this promise. Stress on we teachers will be reduced.
