The discharge of the eight female pupils from China Senior High School has been stopped by President Akufo-Addo.
The President took the action after it caught his attention, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Education on Friday.
Accordingly, the Ghana Education Service (GES) judgment has been revised by the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, according to the release.
The eight Upper East Region students were expelled by the GES on Thursday for allegedly disrespecting President Akufo-Addo.
The pupils had been suspended before being expelled.
According to the GES, its inquiry into the matter has established that the students' use of foul language against the President in a trending video was accurate.
Accordingly, it stated that the pupils' behavior was "extremely undesired and opposed to the acceptable standards of the conduct normally required of any student in Ghana's educational system."
The GES had earlier expressed regret to the President for the abovementioned conduct prior to the discharge of the pupils.
However, the news of their termination sparked a lot of comments, with many people expressing conflicting emotions regarding the situation.
While some criticize the GES, others applaud the oversight organization.
The choice, in their opinion, is inescapably bad.
One of the opponents, a supporter of children's rights, wasn't happy with the choice.
Joyce Larnyoh, the country director for the International Child Development Program, advised the Ghana Education Service to use sanctions other than dismissal that were more fitting.
The Minority contends that even though the students who made a viral video insulting President Akufo-Addo were acting improperly, their right to an education should not be restricted.
According to the statement, the GES's action needs to be reviewed because the 1992 Constitution guarantees everyone's right to an education.
The statement emphasized that the GES's decision to expel the eight students was severe and backwards-looking, despite the fact that the Minority was against their wrongdoing and condemned it.
After criticizing the GES's choice, the Minority then asked the President to get involved in the situation.
Students who were impacted by the incident are relieved by the statement from the Ministry of Education, which was signed by its spokesperson, Kwasi Kwarteng.
The eight female pupils have now apologized for their behavior.
