ADMISSION TO THE FORTY-SIX (46) PUBLIC COLLEGES OF EDUCATION 2022/2023 ACADEMIC YEAR.
As the first semester of the 2021/2022 academic year is about to end in April, interested applicants are ready to apply for the 2022/2023 academic year. But because of some challenges some of the schools are facing in the terms of facilities ( inadequate lecture halls and dormitories ), show clearly that the number of applicants that will be admitted will be few. That is why this article is here to help you to get a chance into one of the college of education of your choice.
All You Must Know About The Application Procedures:
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission to the NEW FOUR YEAR BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (B.Ed) DEGREE PROGRAMME in the Forty-Six (46) Public Colleges of Education in Ghana for the 2022/2023 academic year.
1. Before applicant's can start the Colleges of Education admission process, they must meet the admission requirements.
Students may be disqualified or not be admitted if they don’t meet the criteria for admission into the college.
The general requirement for admission to the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Programme is as follows:
1.WASSCE Holders: CREDIT (A1-C6) in Six (6) subjects comprising Three(3) Core subjects, including English Language and Core Mathematics, and Three (3) Elective subjects relevant to the course of study.
2. SSSCE Holders: CREDIT (A-D) in Six (6) subjects comprising Three (3) Core subjects, including English Language and Core Mathematics, and Three(3) Elective subjects relevant to the course of study
3. Holders of TVET Qualifications: CREDIT in Three Core Subjects including English and Mathematics and PASSES in Three Elective Subjects relevant to the course of study.
Entry requirements for Special Need Applicants:
Only some few number of the College's of education among the 46 public college of education in Ghana have the facilities to admit special needs applicants.
1. VISUALLY IMPAIRED
Study facilities are available at: N.J. Ahmadiyya College of Education, WA Wesley College of Education, KUMASI and Presbyterian College of Education, AKROPONG.
The requirements are Credit (A1-C6) in Two (2) CORE subjects including English Language and Social Studies and Three (3) relevant elective subjects.Credit (A-D) in Two (2) CORE subjects including English Language and Social Studies and Three (3) relevant elective subjects.SPECIAL NEEDS APPLICANTS:
Study facilities are available at Presbyterian College of Education, AKROPONG. The requirements are Credit (A1-C6) in Three (3)CORE subjects including English Language and Mathematics and Three (3) relevant Elective subjects.
Now after meeting all the requirements, another pivotal step to take is the purchasing of the application form for the online registration. But this is also not a big deal at all. Here there are two means of purchasing the form. Firstly, one can purchase the form at the bank. ( Consolidated Bank of Ghana limited to be specific ). And secondly, for those who don't want to go to the bank, can also purchase the form at home using a pin code on all network.
1. Purchasing The Form At Bank:
Make a payment of the application form into the Colleges of Education- Ghana Account at any branch of the following bank nationwide:
Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited.
2. Using Short Code To Purchase The Form At Home Using Mobile Phone
Buy the application form using the shortcode *924*8# from all networks.
Upon payment, applicants will be given the following information:
A Personal Identification Number (PIN).
An Admission Application Serial Number. Now after getting the serial number and the pin, visit the Colleges of Education admission website: coeportal.edu.gh
Follow the procedure below to complete the online application:
Supply your card information and ensure you keep the card safely for subsequent login
Click on Login to start the application.
Fill out the application form and supply all required details online. An applicant’s passport picture should be in JPG or JPEG format and must not exceed 40KB in size
Click the preview button to see the information you have provided. Press edit button to modify your application or make changes. An applicant is required to select Three (3) schools during the application and a programme of study.
The Programmes Are
1. Early Childhood Education ( ECE )
2. Primary Education
3. Junior High School ( JHS ) Education.
Click Submit and Print Confirmation to complete your online application.
Click the Print Form button to print the confirmation page
Keep your printed Confirmation Page safe. You will need your Application Form Number (Reference Number) to check your admission status.
Each Applicant is required to print two copies of each of his/her confirmation pages and attach his/her results slip(s) and any other documents deemed important and forward same by post to the College of Education applied to. Failure to do so means the application won’t be processed.
But before an applicant make selection of the schools, here is another important dimension of the application process one must take note of due to the introduction of the Four Year's Degree Programme.
Following the Introduction of New Bachelor Of Education in Colleges of Education, each college is under the mentorship of public Universities In Ghana. What this means is that, during your course of study in the college, the examination and quiz will be organized by the university which the college is affiliated to. Awarding of certificate after completion will done by that same university.
