U/W: Teenage Mothers held a meeting with Director for Gender

Teenage mothers has been asked to take advantage of the numerous opportunities that are opened to them by various organizations in the Upper West region and beyond.

They have also been advice to welcome any carrier they find themselves and not to be discouraged because they are not able to go through their dream path. Madam Charity Batuure, the Upper West Regional Director for the Department of Gender, gave the advice in Wa at an event to launch a campaign to empower teenage girls. The project is dubbed: “Empower a Teen Mother”. Madam Batuure who was also the Chairperson at the launch urged the teen mothers to focus on whatever they are doing and do it best.

The Founder and Executive Director of Life Again, Saudatu Mohammed says the foundation aims to empower 50 teenage mothers, of which 30 are to be empowered to go back to school and 20 are to be empowered to learn a skill of their choice by the end of 2021. The Life Again Presented four sawing machines and other equipment to teenage mothers who wants to learn tailoring. It also presented school items which include a chalk box, books, school bags and maths sets to teenage mothers who wants to go back to school.

Some Teenage mothers who are beneficiaries shared their experiences and excitement from the support they have received from Life Again foundation.
