Nigeria 3rd, Kenya 4, Top 10 Countries With Best English Proficiency in Africa, Ghana Poorly Ranked

The world has adopted English as a bridging language to reduce transaction costs across borders as an international language considered as the global lingua franca of business.


The report of the EF links English skills to innovation, research and development public investment, the number of researchers per 1 million and technicians per person.


English mastery was also used as a measure of a country's level of skilled workers and EF says it can increase employment.


Europe is the region with the highest levels of competence. The Netherlands, Denmark, and Finland were among the highest rates in the northern European countries. The report notes that for several reasons, schools in Northern Europe are highly qualified in English.


These include early attention to the skills of communication, daily English speaking and listening and professional language teaching.


The classification was divided into high, high, moderate, low and very low classes and Kenya was the fourth in second (high) category in which Uganda was the best, followed by South Africa.

This would help foreign investors and their African partners to make contracts and co-operation more transparent.

Nigeria Occupies the 3rd position followed by Kenya and Zambia. Meanwhile Ghana is poorly ranked once again, but South Africa occupies the second position behind the 1st placed Uganda.
