If you go into teaching do not expect to be a billionaire -President Nana Addo

A president who claims to make teachers "rich" and improve their condition of service has out of arrant hypocrisy told teachers to do other things(businesses and investments) if they want to improve their financial status.

Mediocrity has made the president to say there's no teacher in any part of the world who has ever "made it" through teaching and that, teaching remains a sacrificial job.

The most annoying part is that, GNAT Leadership Agrees With Nana Akuffo Addo that Teachers Must Be Poor.

According to Nana Akufo Addo, "You don't go into teaching and expect to become rich." However, Ghana National Association of Teachers agrees with president Nana Akufo Addo on his statement that the Ghanaian teacher does not have to be paid well. To the president, the reward of the teacher is in heaven, and asked teachers to continue to sacrifice for Ghana.

Nana Akufo Addo said, "people don't go into teaching to make money..."if you want to make money, you do other things like

At a meeting with the leadership of GNAT, Nana Addo  confidently said, teachers don't need to be rich and GNAT leaders clapped in support of the president.

One can confidently say that the president has asked teachers to quit teaching and do better jobs/businesses that could fetch them enough to improving their lives. This saddens those of us who have this mindset of putting our strength and love into teaching and nurturing the young pupils and students to actualize their dreams.

But what do we hear? Discouraging comments from someone we thought could at least encourage if not improve our financial status. In his shoes, I would have made my comments in a way that would "ginger" the teachers. Instead of telling teachers they can never improve their financial status if they depend on the teaching profession, it would be prudent to rather encourage them and let them know what the government is doing or can do to improve teachers' condition of service.

My opinion to that young teacher

Young Teachers, Your lives matter and the lives of our pupils amd students as well. So if you want to be a billionaire, quit the teaching job, don't dwell on the anger from the President's comments to punish the innocent young ones who have big dreams for themselves and the society.

Don't kill their dreams, teach and nurture them.
