Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , the Minister for Information designate has announced that the first batch of the Covid-19 vaccines for the country will arrive later today Monday February 22, 2021.
He said this while speaking at a Conference at Yendi Municipal Hospital. He said at the Conference that he is on the verge of welcoming the first batch of the coronavirus vaccine.
An except from his delivery;
“… though I have another engagement on our COVID-19 vaccines that are arriving early Monday morning”.
According to the government’s rollout plan, it was expected that the health professionals will be the first to be vaccinated.
Another fact is that, due to the high numbers of the cases recorded in the Greater and Ashanti Regions, they shall be receiving an early delivery of the vaccination process.
The Food and Drugs Authority(FDA) has earlier on approved the AstraZeneca and Sputnik V vaccines to be use in Ghana.
In an attempt to clear the various misconceptions about the vaccines and enhance public confidence in the exercise, some public officials among which the minister of information designate pledged to be part and other celebrities will take their vaccines publicly.
But there is good news for all Ghanaians including tertiary students, secondary school students and all levels of teachers.
From the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Kwame Amponsah Achiano, he says that there is going to be about 20 million Ghanaians which include students of Senior high school and tertiary institutions, and teachers of all levels to receive the vaccine. And the exercise is commencing from March 2021.
Stakeholders in the education sector are to be receiving their shots as soon as the public officials publicly take their shots.
