Akyem Chief, Nana Essiful II Commissions Ultramodern ICT Lab For Akyem Methodist

The Chief of Akyem community, Nana Okofo Daafo Essiful II, on Friday 17th September 2021 commissioned a 20 seater computer laboratory for Akyem Methodist Basic school to equip the students with Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

This computer lab, which has been outfitted with 9 computers, desks and chairs, celling fans and infrastructure, was established at a cost of GHC 150,O00.

At a short ceremony held to Commissioned project, Nana Okofo Daafo Essiful II, said the purpose of the computer laboratory to promote the learning of ICT among students of Akyem Methodist school. He disclosed some challenges the pupils encountered during an ICT quiz on Medeama FM.

The Revered Chief added that technology plays a vital role in education that is why he took it upon himself to build the computer laboratory in order for pupils to stay abreast with ICT developments, adding that they are in talks with MTN to provide Internet connectivity to increase internet access for learning.

Nana Okofo Essiful II urged NGOs, corporate organizations and individuals to donate computers to the lab. He also broke grounds for the construction of a 3 classroom block. 

Mrs. Juliana Woode, headmistress of Akyem Methodist Basic School, on behalf of the school authorities and Parents-Teacher Association (P.T.A), expressed gratitude to the Chief and Nananom for the kind gesture.

The special guest of the ceremony, Hon Benjamin Kessie commended Nana Okofo Daafo Essiful II, for his high commitment to serve the people of the Akyem community. He called on other traditional leaders and well meaning citizens to emulate his exemplary leadership by helping communities.

The ceremony was attended by the Chief and Nananom of Akyem, Municipal Chief Executive, Municipal Education Director, teachers, parents and pupils.
