In January, even students with truncated academic works will be promoted : Dr Tandoh

At the time when normalcy triggers in many jurisdictions in the African continent as far as education and resumption of schools are concerned, our dear Ghana took an abracadabra decision to postpone the resumption of schools.

Indeed decisions have been taken to only allow our children to resume schools next year. This of course has serious impact on the performance of our children.

Indeed schools reopened from the basic level : primary to the university in countries like Niger, Cameroon, Mali and co.

To consolidate their decision taken not to reopen schools until January 2021, on Joy Prime this morning, the Deputy Director General of Ghana Education Service Dr Kwabena Bempah Tandoh revealed that all students in the jurisdiction would be promoted to the next level getting to the 2021 academic year.

“When schools open in January, everybody will be promoted. Even those whose academic works were truncated,” could he pointed out on the show.

Apparently their decision remains based on the fact that the whole job would be deposited on the neck of the teachers as Mr Kwabena indicated :” it is the same teachers who are teaching these kids. While they are promoted to Class Two or Three, the content of their academic work will begin from where it “

With these statements one wonders what exactly our children are still doing in the house while their peers from other jurisdiction are back to schools even in countries that are still seriously dealing with the covid-19.

What kind of leaders do we have in this country, only looking at their own bowl, their own interest ? Do you think the these teachers will be eager to re take the previous academic year program for these students ?

What do you think of this decision of the G.E.S. ?
