Teachers employed by the Ghana Education Service at the pre-tertiary level are asked to register online in order to access all the necessary information on their pension contribution. According to the Ghana Education Service Occupational Pension Scheme, (GESOPS), about half of teachers population nationwide have not registered on the portal.
GESOPS created the online platform just like the E-payslip and SSNIT online platforms for members to get access to important information as well as make a claim whenever it becomes necessary. Further, the fund manager is going to launch an android mobile app soon to complement the online portal on the web.
Although many teachers are unaware of this information, GESOPS through the teacher unions is requesting their members to register online and enjoy the benefits that come with it. The online registration is simple and can be done individually without any assistance. Visit the portal here to register.
Benefits derived from the online portal
With the GESOPS online platform, teachers are able to do the following; make a claim from their contribution, check how much they have contributed over the past years, check statements, view beneficiaries and check number of claims.
This information is about your future. If you are young in the teaching profession, you might think there are many years ahead of you. However, if you care to know, the future is for those who prepare today. Prepare adequately towards your retirement from now and save your future from falling into shambles. For those who are due for retirement soon, the portal can reveal many things about your contributions so that you can take the necessary action.
GESOPS is the fund manager of teachers' tier-2 pension scheme. The fund is managed by a board of trustees with representation from the ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, the Attorney General’s Department, an indepen-dent trustee and the various teacher Unions. It is therefore necessary that you register. Click here to register.
