Distance Students Of UEW Demand for their Certificates

The University of Education Winneba held its first ever virtual graduation on the 11th of September 2020 in Central Region.

The Event took place in September and deserving students were graduated. These students were represented by a few who attained first class in their course of study.

Before the graduation was held in september, Students who went through the Distance mode at various study centers wrote their final exams in July through the UEW Moodle site ahead of the graduation in September. The graduation was held and list of graduands was released for regular students only. The distance students weren't included in the graduation and their names haven't been published in the congregation book.

Many of these students have complained bitterly of the development with some calling on management to give out their certificates to them to pursue job opportunities if they wont be graduated, some students in the Techiman and Tamale Study centers suggested they pursued some of the courses to be upgraded in their management units, some suggested they wanted to apply for jobs with the certificates but as it stands now their colleagues in the regular mode have graduated whilst those in the distance mode have a lot of question marks on them as to why they haven't graduated, according to students some parents feel they have spent their fees without pursuing the courses they claim to have pursued.

The edged the Vice Chancellor, Rev. Father Anthony Afful Broni to hear their plea as they have paid a lot of money and invested a lot of time in this exercise.
