Dr Eric Nkansah Confirmed As Director-General Of GES.

Dr. Eric Nkansah has been confirmed as the Ghana Education Service's official Director-General (GES).

In effect, all communications and memos should be addressed as such, according to a confirmation letter signed by Ms. Angela Frimpomaa Nkansah, the Acting Director, Human Resource Management Department, GES, and sent to all Regional Directors of Education. Congratulations to Dr. Eric Nkansah on his appointment as GES Director-General.

The letter was also copied to the National President of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High Schools, the Chairman of the GES Council in Accra, the two Deputy Director-Generals at the Service, the General Managers of all Educational Units, and all Divisional, Metro, Municipal, and District Directors of Education.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appointed Dr. Nkansah to the position of Acting Director General of the Service in October 2022.

The appointment letter was dated and was signed by Nana Asante Bediatuo, the President's Secretary.

This comes after the immediate former Director-General of the Service, Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, had his secondment terminated.

Dr. Nkansah was the Technical Advisor and Director in Charge of Tertiary Education at the Ministry of Education before to his appointment.

He was delegated from the Kumasi Technical University, where he worked as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Banking and Finance, to the Ministry of Education.

Four teacher unions protested against his appointment.

The Teachers and Workers' Union, the National Association of Graduate Teachers Association, the Ghana National Association of Teachers, and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers are the unions.
