NEW: Semester break for SHS Students not compulsory, GES explains

The management of the Ghana Education Service has taken note of requests from Heads of Senior High Schools for semester break for schools at this time.

And as result considered the request and has directed that all schools should grant semester break for all Senior High schools from Monday 8th March 2021 to Thursday 11 March 2021.

According to the GES, this semester break is not compulsory and all students who wish to stay in school should be fed and be guided by all school rules and regulations.

A statement signed by the Deputy Director-General of GES, Mr. Anthony Boateng indicates that students who will voluntarily go on the semester break, on their return to school should have their particulars taken as well as all contacts they made during the break.

This will however help to flatten the pandemic curve as it will facilitate contact tracing should it become necessary.
