You Must Understand By Now Why I Prioritized Development Of Private Schools- Mahama Speaks

His Excellency, Former President, John Dramani Mahama has once again reiterated a strong campaign promise and statement he made in the run up to the 2020 elections. Mahama and the NDC held the position that they will not cancel the Free Senior High School policy initiated by the Nana Addo led administration. Mahama had always insisted to Ghanaians that he would rather reduce the pressure on the various public Senior High Schools by allowing access to the Private Senior High Schools by normal Ghanaian students, relatively free.

Speaking at the GNAPS conference, Mahama tried to explain the unprecedented role of the National Democratic Congress in the development of the private education sector. Notably, the New Patriotic Party has done nothing significant in that sector of education. Their major focus have been on the public sector forgetting that without the private sector, their work and policy will be in vein. Mahama gave more reasons for Ghanaians to see why the NDC is a better alternative than the NPP.

"Private schools have expanded access to education depend on quality and depth provided alternatives in our national agenda to ensure that no child is left behind in obtaining adequate knowledge and skills in this increasingly competitive world. You can now understand the national democratic congress and my personal commitment as President to the development of private schools. There is a convergence between social democracy and private sector participation in education. As a social democratic party we consider private schools as complementary in our effort to enhance equitable access to opportunities for Ghanaians"

Frankly speaking, the current administration must know that a bulk of the labour force of this country can be found in the private sector. So focusing on the public sector always will make them feel like they are having an impact, but in reality, the national cake is going to only a few section of the population.
