The issue of two Rastafarian students who were rejected admission into the Achimota Senior High School has been making news in Ghana for the past one or two weeks. Judging from how things are going, the issue isn't going to die out now. Though GES has ordered the school authorities to admit the students, the School, gunning support from the NAGRAT and its PTA have been adamant in obliging to the orders of the GES. Parents of the students and the rastafarian community being dissatisfied with the decision of the school authorities have made it known that they'd heading for court to address this unfair treatment. Many Ghanaians are divided over the whole case sharing their views on whether or not the school is right in rejecting the student.
But one social media fan has put the entire case into a different thought provoking twist. He posted on his Facebook page sharing his thought on the case. In his view, it's a waste of time focusing on trivial issues like hair cutting and other dress codes before admission. He says that since the days of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, students have been trimming down their hairs till date but Ghana's Atomic Energy can't even afford to boast of producing simple "knockouts" or fireworks for Christmas celebrations. He further stated that whiles "other countries whose students don't cut their hair are landing rovers on Mars and opening women's wombs to operate on babies before they're born, I went to Adisco, I went to Kwabotwe, I went to St. Peter's"; that's what we pride ourselves in over here in Ghana.
