In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, January 18th 2022, he wrote;
"The argument that the semester system permits longer instructional periods in school to achieve quality learning outcomes is not factual."
Mr. Kofi Asare backed up his claim by citing Vietnam. " Vietnam one of the top OECD performers our Minister keeps referencing for STEM have only five years of Primary Education, compared to Ghana’s six years. Yet, we are no where near that country in terms of learning outcomes. And Vietnam is not America or UK. They are just like us."
The comment comes after the Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service has backed the change of basic education calendar from trimester to semester. According to them semester system permits longer instructional periods in school to achieve quality learning outcomes.
