Video: Without a Budget Of GH¢15, You Can’t Eat “Gobɛ” Satisfactorily – KNUST Student Laments

The ever-growing spikes in the price of goods and services have really affected the survival of the average Ghanaian. Students in the various tertiary institutions are also badly affected by the high cost of living in the country.

Many students on campus are forced to stay in their rooms and miss lecture sections because of the high cost of transportation. In a recent interview conducted by Joy News at KNUST, a random male student shared some of the challenges they face on campus.

Speaking about the high cost of food, he revealed that without a budget of GH¢15, no one will be able to buy and consume “Gobɛ” (beans with plantain) satisfactorily. He also disclosed how he and other students are forced to trek to lecture halls all the time because of the high cost of transportation.

Pursuing a certification at the university has currently been a very costly journey than before. Many students who cannot bear the high costs have been forced to either defer or quit the program.
