Two Teacher Unions Express Their Opinion On Closure Of Schools
Two Teacher Unions, Ghana National Association of Teachers(GNAT) and National Association of Graduate Teachers(NAGRAT)
The General secretary of GNAT, Thomas Musah and the General Secretary of NAGRAT has called on the General public not to panic, cases identified in Schools are all Asymptomatic and the students are recovering.
The Ghana Health Service is managing the situation, the School with the highest positive case, Akosombo International School is as a result of the school testing more students, the more we test the higher the positive cases recorded.
Some schools in Ashanti Region have also recorded positive cases of COVID-19, but the Teacher Unions have appealed to the General public not to generalize the situation, few students recorded positive cases can not justify the call of closure of schools.
The distribution of PPES to Schools delayed for some weeks after the reopening of schools.
Some students do not wear the nose mask properly.
Especially students in the boarding house wearing nose mask throughout the day until going to bed is a challenge for some of the students, teachers are doing their best to ensure adherence to the protocols.
Sending students back home at this time will be dangerous.
Students going back home can trigger community transmission.
Ghana Health Service is managing the situation.

02-11 14:16:25Why the government and our union leaders are silence on incremental jump? If they fail to come out and tell us something meaningful we take the law into own hands. As for our union leaders they should be mindful that we selected them and paying them to fight for our interest as teachers. Soon we will be all over the media and begins to make the public aware about the poor treatment of teachers.
