The Ghana Education Service has appointed Dr. Eric Nkansah as the acting Director-General. He is currently the Director in charge of Tertiary Education at the Ministry of Education (GES). His appointment takes effect from October 19, 2022.

He succeeds Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, whose secondment agreement has ended and he is now returning to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

According to a letter dated October 19, 2022, signed by Nana Bediatuo Asante, Secretary to the President, and written to Dr. Nkansah, the appointment was made in accordance with Sections 19(1), (2)(a), and (b) of the Pre-Tertiary Education Act, 2020. (Act 1049).

"I am delighted to inform you that the President has chosen you to operate as Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (the Service) pending receipt of the constitutionally mandated advice of the Service's governing Council, delivered in collaboration with the Public Services Commission."

Dr. Nkansah has spent the last 15 years working in the fields of finance and education.

Nkansah, 41, joined the Ministry of Education on secondment from Kumasi Technical University, where he worked as a Senior Lecturer for almost 8 years.
