National Council for Curriculum and Assessment is one of the agencies under the Ministry of Education in the country. Some days back the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment organized new curriculum orientation for teachers to make amendments in the curriculum they used to teach. Ghana Education Service (GES) used the new curriculum programme created by NaCCA to organised a reform meeting to design a new policy to safeguard the educational sector in the country. The Management of Ghana Education Service has designed a new educational reforms. And this new educational reforms are talking about many changes in the education sector. Below are some of the changes;
Ghana Education Service new educational reforms clearly stated that, not all level of education will be writing examination before moving to the next level.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) new Educational reforms also stated, Basic(2,3,6 and 7) will write examination at the end of their semesters. They will be writing this examination to prepare them for the next level. The Basic 2 students are going to write examination just to prepare them to move to their final level of the Lower primary level. The Basic four will also write examination to prepare then for their readiness to the next level of upper primary. The Basic 6 students will write examination to prepare them to go to the Junior High School (JHS). And the Junior High School form 2 students will write examination to prepare them to go to Form 3.
At first,JHS form 3 students writes BECE before moving to Senior High School. But the new educational reform stated that, the form 3 students of the Junior High Schools will be writing general placement examination in order to be placed into their Senior High School of their choices.
In accordance with the new educational reforms, all the levels of education that are not in the examination list will not write examination.
