Prempeh College have been to the finals of the national competition on five (5) separate occasions. The school has won four (4) trophies, two behind the most successful secondary school in the competition, Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School (PRESEC, Legon) who has six to its name.
Premeph College did not participate in the regional qualification competition due to the "seeding" status of the school. The Kumasi-based school begins its NSMQ journey today in the Ashanti Regional Championship where they face Kumasi High School, Fomena T. I. AMASS and Nsutaman Catholic SHS.
The school is always found to be moved by the performance of their rivals, Opoku Ware School to do greater than what their counterpart has done. Hence it is expected that today's contest would be a statement to OWASS about the preparedness of the four-time NSMQ winners for the Regional Championship
