The Vice President of the Tertiary Education Institutions Net work of the University of Cape Caost (TEIN-UCC), Mr. Japheth Abudu-Laar has led a team of a group of students who call themselves; 'THE ADVOCATES', to petition the school's administration for the 2nd time.
It would be recalled that, during the immediate-past SRC president of UCC's era, Mr. Japhet happened to petition the Dean of Students of UCC about the sharing of some UCC-lacoste; which appeared to be long overdue. Following his petition, the school's administration, together with the Students Representative Council (SRC) Executives expeditiously made the UCC-lacoste available and shared them to the students.
Mr. Japhet Aspires to become the SRC President of UCC for the 2021/2022 academic year.
Mr. Abudu who is currently the Vice President of TEIN-UCC happens to be a level 400 Doctor of Optometry student who is also aspiring to become the next SRC President of the University.
This time around, he has once again, led the group called the 'ADVOCATES' to file a petition with the Dean of Student of UCC's administration to consider effecting some changes in the electoral system of the school.
Professor Eugene Darteh, Dean of Students, UCC.
According to the Doctor of Optometry student, the electronic mode of voting in the school comes long with a legion of challenges which, according to him, makes the electoral processes not free, transparent, and fair.
Meanwhile, the aspiring SRC President for the 2021/2022 academic year, has recommended to the school's administration to consider instituting a policy such that; students would be allowed to vote in their student portals, or if possible, the school should revisit the old way of manual voting and counting.
What are your views about Mr. Japhet's petition to UCC administration; do you think it is necessary, or it is out of place?
