REVEALED: Teachers To Be Issued Emails For Communication Purposes – GES

The Deputy Director General in charge of Quality & Access, Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh has revealed that very soon, all teachers (pre-tertiary level) will be issued a dedicated email account which will be used to communicate information from the Ghana Education Service headquarters to teachers across the country.

Dr. Tandoh added that the purpose of the dedicated or custom email for teachers will eventually remove the publication and spread of fake news which has flooded the various social media platforms in recent times.

The Director General in his speech at the O'Reilly Senior High School in Accra in a short ceremony organized to deliver TM1 laptops to teachers at the school also used the occasion to educate teachers on the use of the laptop and its content.

Additionally, Dr. Tandoh reaffirmed that the laptops were indeed preloaded with teaching resources and aids, including the Curriculum, even though numerous teachers who have so far received their laptops think otherwise.

Meanwhile, teachers at the O'Reilly senior high school who received the laptops have greatly expressed their satisfaction for the device. They stated that it will help them teach effectively and spare them the stress of writing lesson notes in heavy notebooks.

Speaking on the issue of TM1 Laptops being the best quality in comparison to other trusted brands, the Director-General, Professor Kwasi Opoku Amankwah mentioned that teachers should accept the laptops with a cheerful heart because it is good, although it is less expensive.

“Even the simplest smartphone does not cost less than GHC 500.00" and that if a “teacher is parting away with such an amount to own a Laptop, that cannot be described as shortchanging the teacher.”

According to GES, the distributions at the Senior High School level is expected to end on the 17th of December 2021. The 2nd and 3rd phases for junior high school teachers and primary teachers respectively will commence in January 2022.
