There has been so much discuss about the education ministry. Many have applauded the President Akufo-Addo government for their implementation of the Free SHS programme. However, years after its implementation, lapses are beginning to show and this has raised eyebrows regarding the system. Many have argued that the education system in general needs to be revamped.
The government with its ministry under Yaw Adutwum have also countered by saying that all is well. in an interview on Woezor TV last week, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang stated that the education ministry is fraught with many challenges. She maintained that there were issues with school feeding, text books, double track system among others.
“This same group whose performance is said to be outstanding that we shouldn’t be talking wrote exams and protested. We heard of leakages. We heard of invigilators being compromised. We heard many things. We also heard the students come out and say this was not what they were told will happen. Now these students have As and we are happy? It is up to us!” the former Education Minister said.
In a counter argument on ‘Good Evening Ghana’, Yaw Adutwum wondered what Naana Opoku Agyemang did differently under her tenure as education minister. He called on her to give the government some credit for the massive changes.
Tonight, Sunday, June 6, 2021 at 8:00pm, Emefa Appaw of Multimedia (Joy News) will interview the 2020 Running mate of the NDC and former education minister under the NDC, regarding her assessment of the education ministry. The interview is expected to be fierce and might possibly see the former education minister react to arguments raised by Yaw Adutwum.
