Sad news for students and teachers of Osino Senior high school in the Fanteakwa District of the Eastern region as the school's girl's dormitory has been set ablaze yesterday November 14, 2021. The cause of the fire is however yet to be identified.
Meanwhile, the burning of the girl's place of residence led to the collapse of six students, who suffered asthmatic attacks from the smoke. They are, however, receiving treatment at the hospital and thankfully no causality was recorded.
The incidence which happened while the girls were asleep started with a smoke coming out from the building and eventually led to fire the next day and as I speak, many items belonging to the students have been burnt into ashes. It took the swift interventions of students and teachers who arrived at the scene to quench the fire with several buckets of water.
It is sad to say that items worth thousands of Ghana cedis have been lost in the fire outbreak. They include the trunks, uniforms, clothes, beds, and Home Economics items meant for their practicals next week have all been destroyed. Some affected students are left with no uniform or clothes to wear as of the time the media arrived at the scene. The heartbreaking incidence has brought so emotional pain to the affected students.
Speaking to the media, the House Mistress of the school disclosed that the cause of the fire is yet to be identified.
Moreover, one of the students who was interviewed could not hold her tears as she narrated that all her items including her Home Economics items for practicals worth over GHC 800 have been lost thus, called in the government to come to their aid. “We need held!” “We need money,” She cried out.
Another student also said that all her belongings and items for practicals have been burnt into ashes, as she could not salvage anything from the fire. The affected students are calling for assistance.
