Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of Ghana, has taken action regarding the dismissal of eight senior high school students from Chiana Senior High School, who were expelled for insulting the president.
This information was shared in a statement issued by the Ministry of Education on Friday, January 13, 2022, revealing that the president became involved in the situation after being made aware of the student's dismissal.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has become involved in the situation after it was brought to his attention. The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has instructed the Ghana Education Service to explore alternative forms of disciplinary action for the students, according to a statement issued by the Ministry's spokesperson, Kwasi Kwarteng.
Eight students were seen in a video that circulated widely on social media in November 2022, where they made disrespectful comments about the president. As a result, the Ghana Education Service, in a statement issued on Wednesday, January 11, 2022, accepted the recommendation of the school to dismiss the students.
A statement from the Ghana Education Service (GES) stated that approval has been given for the dismissal of eight students with immediate effect, as a deterrent for other students. The statement also characterized the behavior of the dismissed students as unacceptable and in violation of the codes of conduct within Ghana's educational system.
