Gov't urged To Take Action Amid Food Shortage, Quality Concerns In SHSs

The Ashanti Regional Students Representative Council (SRC) has called on the government and the national food buffer stock company and analysised the issue concern with the food scars that many schools in the regions are overwhelming with. Shortage of food in the various senior high schools has reach to a higher intensity.

There has been a limited supply of various food commodities which has impel the students to go in for another kind of food items for a long period of time.

Communicating with citinews, the Ashanti Regional SRC coordinator, Raphael Sarkodie said " this delays and inconsistent supplies at time impede their accedemic work. Well, issues has also been highlighted about what the shortage means for the quality of food students would need".

Trepidations about the poor quality of food serve to students has also been raised in the Senior high school located in the central region, said by the school PTA chairman which is another evidence.

"Our boys are taking porridge without milk and without bread… the food they are eating is too horrible,” the chairman said.

Now Heardmasters from various senior high schools are also pleading with the government to resort to local food suppliers, due to inability of the national buffer stock company to provide their food demands.

One of the headmaster in the northern region also complains about shortage of food items too, hence the government swift action will prevent students from forcibly vacating due to the shortage. Speaking to citi news.
