Training workshop on how to utilise the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP) is well underway in most Districts across Ghana. The two-day workshop is expected to end tomorrow, Wednesday 14th July, 2021.
OperaNewsGh has gathered enough information from some Districts in the Ashanti Region about the ongoing training programme. Details available to OperaNewsGh reveal Ghana Education Service would give each GALOP school an amount of three thousand Ghana Cedis (GhC 3,000.00) every first term for the next five academic years. That is known as Base Grant.
For every second term, Ghana Education Service would offer each GALOP school five Ghana Cedis (GhC 5.00) per pupil, that is also known as the Enrollment Grant.
Heads of Schools and their Assistants have been given tuition on how to access the GALOP Grant. They (Heads) are to draw yearly budget which would be presented to the Ghana Education Service Headquarters through the District and Regional Education Offices.
Unlike the the conventional capitation grant, the GALOP grant will hit the account of the selected school directly. Heads can access this grant without approval or clearance by the District Director of Education.
The Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project Grant should be used for activities that will help to improve learning outcomes and increase enrollment drive only.
No Headteacher should should the GALOP funds for minor repairs and transportation and travel expenses.
