NTC has started registration for license for in-service Teachers - Follow this procedure to register

The National Teaching Council has begun registration for in-service Teachers for their professional license.

The National Teaching Council mandated under the Education Act (Act 778), section 9 to improve professional standing and ensure licencing of Teachers in the country.

The council started issuing license to teachers after taking the professional license examination for those who completed professional courses but that of the in-service Teachers was on hold as the Teacher Unions were engaging the council on proper measures to ensure licencing of in-service Teachers.

It would be recalled that the Teacher Unions reached an agreement with the NTC and notified Teachers earlier this month that "preparing Teachers for quality Education in Ghana requires policies and practices which makes teaching an attractive profession and this can only be achieved if the teaching profession is governed by Policies that raise the profile and status of Teachers to attract the highest caliber of candidates. The Teacher unions in pursuant to that reached an agreement with the NTC to deduct the ghc100 license fee from government one thousand and two hundred Ghana Cedis (ghc1200) professional allowance the government has provided for Teachers.

It is in the fulfilment of this that the NTC has opened the portal for in-service Teachers to register for their professional license.

The following documents are required for Teachers to complete the online application form.

1. Scanned promotion letters

2. Professional certificates

3. Passport

Teachers can log into the site

You will need to register with an email address, telephone number, indicate whether you are a teacher and create a password for you to access the site if you are not already registered on the portal.

The initiative will end the argument of whether or not teaching is a full profession in Ghana if all teachers have their professional license.
