Opinion: Top 10 best universities in Ghana

Education is the key to success, and without one it will be hard for one to find a good, well paid job to do. Because of that Ghana has put a great emphasis on it, making sure that citizens, young and old, have a good education.

And Ghana is well known to have some of the best university schools in Africa. Some of these universities are public and others are private institutions offering education to both Ghanaian and foreign students. These universities often offer courses such as science, engineering, law, agriculture, medicine, and many more to their students who are ready for the educational lessons that will make an impact in their lives.

Therefore, without any particular order, these are a list of 10 best universities in Ghana 

1. The University of Ghana.

The university of Ghana is the oldest public universities in Ghana, and it was founded in 1948.

2. Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. 

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology is the largest university in the Kumasi and was found in 1952. It was ranked in 2020 as the number 12 best university in Africa and number 1 in Ghana and West Africa in 2019 by U.S. News & World Report. 

3. The University of Cape Coast is a public university located in cape coast, and it was established in 1962. It was at first established to trained qualified teachers before other functions was added to it.

4. University of Education.

The University of Education, Winneba is a University in Central Region of Ghana. It was established in 1992 to train teachers for the education system of Ghana.

5. The University of Mines and Technology. 

The University of Mines and Technology is a university located at Tarkwa in the Western region of Ghana.

6. Ashesi University. 

Ashesi University is a private, non-profit university located in Accra. It was established in 2002.

7. The University of Professional Studies.

The University of Professional Studies is a public university and was established in 1965.

8. The University for Development Studies. 

The University for Development Studies is in Temala, and was established in 1992.

9. All Nations University.

All Nations University was established in 2005, and it is located at Koforidua.

10. Takoradi Technical University. 

Takoradi Technical University was established in 1954, and it is located in Sekondi-Takoradi.
