The chief of Fiapre who also double as the vice-chancellor of the Ghana Communications Technology University (GCTU), Obrempong Professor Kyem-Amponsah II made a major donation to Notre Dame Girls Senior High School in Fiapre-Sunyani in the Bono region. The best performing Girls' school in the Bono region received this huge package that included over 60 sets of desktop computers with fully installed furniture to facilitate computer literacy in the school.
The donation was part of the commitments shown by Obrempong Professor Kyem-Amponsah II towards the teaching and learning of information and communications technology in schools in Ghana. Obrempong Professor Kyem-Amponsah II together with his sub-chiefs handed over the computers and desks to the school's management in Fiapre.
Below are some shots of the inspection section done by Obrempong and his crew before the handing over.
The headmistress of the school, Rev. Sr. Irene Brookman Arthur on behalf of the Board, Management, Staff, and students of Notre Dame Girls' Senior High School expressed her profound gratitude to Obrempong Professor Kyem-Amponsah II for his kind gestures towards the school.
She stated, "This donation is very special to us as a school and will go a long way to help teaching and learning in the school", she continued "You have really demonstrated your commitment in promoting education in Fiapre and beyond. God bless you Obrempong Professor Kyem-Amponsah II"
Indeed, this will enhance access to high-quality education in Ghana. Making such a donation in Notre Dame Girls Senior High School will make the teaching and learning of ICT fun and memorable. For many years, frantic efforts to acquire computers to furnish our schools to aid in the teaching and learning of technology has merited little success. At least with this kind gesture, students can have a real chance to understand ICT better. This is a moment of pride for the school, thanks to Obrempong Professor Kyem-Amponsah II.
