Before Education in Ghana was mainly informal, and based on apprenticeship before the arrival of European settlers, who introduced a formal education system addressed to the elites .

The 19th century saw the increasing influence of Missionaries. With the arrival of more missions into the country came an explosion in mission schools across the length and breadth of southern Ghana. The Wesleyan and Basel missionaries established schools in Cape Coast, Accra, Anomabu, Dixcove, Akropong and all along the coast in 1830s to 1850s respectively.

However, during the post independence more secondary were constructed across the nation by the first president Dr. Kwame Nkrumah with common architectural designs.

Prior to the INFRASTRUCTURAL development, more Senior high schools are adopting to the modern style of construction that is designs. Looking at the assembly halls, Dinning, Dormitories, library, classroom, laboratories, administration blocks etc. some of those structures are not in good shape, others can't accommodate more student.
